Why can't I see the entire sky on the interactive map?

For technical reasons, the sky map displayed represents the sky within a 5° radius of the target area. If you wish to observe a more distant area of the sky, you must start from another object in the catalog or from a manual target. 

The 5° radius is displayed as a gray circle on the map:
