Why Does My Battery Indicate a Different Capacity Than 10,000 mAh?

Why Does My Battery Indicate a Different Capacity Than 10,000 mAh?

The battery cells have a capacity of 10,000 mAh with a nominal voltage (average) of 3.7V.

However, when converting to a 5V output, the effective capacity is calculated as follows:

  • If the battery were 100% efficient, the 5V output would be 7,400 mAh (10,000 mAh × 3.7V / 5V).
  • In reality, batteries are never 100% efficient. In the case of the ASUS battery, for example, it has 83% efficiency, reducing the final output capacity further.

The 10,000 mAh rating refers to the cell capacity, not the actual output capacity. This is a standard practice for all commercial batteries.
